Dental check-up
An examination of the teeth, gums and mouth, with findings and options explained afterwards.

Could this treatment help you?
A check-up is a full examination of the teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues — including a screen for mouth cancer — with x-rays where needed. Problems found early are small, cheap and simple; the check-up is what keeps them that way.
A new patient examination at Pearl Dental, including x-rays, is £80. The practice is private, seeing private and Denplan patients, with evening appointments on Mondays and Tuesdays and Saturday opening.
This may suit you if

Everyone — and especially anyone who has not seen a dentist in a while. A gap of years is a reason to book, not a reason to be embarrassed; the examination starts from where your mouth is now.
What it will not do

A check-up finds problems; it does not fix them in the same visit. Anything needing treatment is explained with its options and written costs, and nothing is done without your agreement.
- New patient examination including x-rays — £80
- Mouth cancer screening as standard
- Evening (private) and Saturday appointments
- Step 1HistoryYour dental and medical history, and anything currently bothering you.
- Step 2ExaminationTeeth, gums, bite, jaw and soft tissues, with x-rays where they add information.
- Step 3FindingsWhat was found, shown and explained — including what can safely be left alone.
- Step 4PlanAny treatment options with written costs, and the right interval until your next visit.
Afterwards
Nothing to recover from — you leave knowing the state of your mouth and when to come back. Check-up intervals are set by your risk, not a fixed six-month rule.
Questions patients usually ask.
How much is a check-up?
A new patient examination, including x-rays, is £80.
I have not seen a dentist in years — will I be judged?
No. It is a common situation and the examination simply starts from where you are. Problems are explained without lectures, and treatment is planned at a pace you agree to.
Do you see NHS patients?
Pearl Dental is a private practice and no longer provides NHS dental care. Care is available privately or through a Denplan membership plan — reception will explain the options when you book.
