White fillings
Tooth-coloured material used to repair decay or replace a filling where clinically appropriate.

Could this treatment help you?
A white filling repairs decay or damage in tooth-coloured composite, bonded to the tooth and shaped to disappear into it. The same material replaces old silver amalgam fillings where they are failing or where you simply no longer want metal on show.
White composite fillings at Pearl Dental start from £145.
This may suit you if

You have a cavity, a broken filling, or silver fillings you would like replaced with something tooth-coloured. Whether an old filling should be replaced — rather than left alone — is an honest conversation at the check-up.
What it will not do

A sound amalgam filling doing its job is often best left in place; replacing fillings for appearance alone removes a little more tooth each time, and that is explained before you decide. Large cavities can need more than a filling — an onlay or crown — and you are told at the assessment, not mid-treatment.
- Tooth-coloured, bonded and shaped to the tooth
- From £145, confirmed before treatment
- Honest advice on which old fillings actually need replacing
- Step 1AssessmentThe tooth is examined and x-rayed where needed, and the size of the repair is confirmed.
- Step 2Removing the problemDecay or the old filling is removed under local anaesthetic.
- Step 3Building the fillingComposite is placed in layers, set with light, and shaped to the tooth.
- Step 4Bite and polishThe bite is checked and the surface polished smooth.
Afterwards
Once the anaesthetic wears off the tooth is back in normal use. Brief sensitivity after a deep filling is common and settles; anything that persists is worth a review rather than waiting.
Questions patients usually ask.
How much does a white filling cost?
From £145, depending on the size and position of the filling. The exact fee is confirmed before treatment starts.
Should I replace my silver fillings?
Only if they are failing, or if their appearance genuinely bothers you — a sound amalgam filling is not a problem to fix. The check-up tells you which of yours, if any, actually need attention.
Can a wisdom tooth be filled?
Often, yes — a wisdom tooth with decay is assessed like any other. Where its position makes a lasting filling impossible, removal is discussed instead, with the reasoning explained.
