Porcelain veneers

Thin porcelain facings that change the shape, shade or surface of front teeth.

Could this treatment help you?

A veneer is a thin porcelain facing bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, shade or surface. Done well, a veneer looks like a natural tooth, not dental work.

Pearl Dental designs veneers with its onsite dental laboratory, so the shade and shape are agreed between you, the dentist and the technician who actually makes them.

This may suit you if

Close-up of a person’s smile.

A front tooth is discoloured, worn, chipped or slightly out of line, and you want a longer-lasting, more stain-resistant result than composite offers.

Good to know

A dentist examining a patient’s teeth.

Preparing a tooth for a veneer usually removes a thin layer of enamel, which does not grow back — it is a considered decision, not a casual one, and where bonding or whitening would do the job with less, you are told so.

Porcelain does not decay, but the tooth under it still can. Veneers also eventually need replacing.
