Teeth whitening
Dentist-supervised whitening planned after checking the health of the teeth and gums.

Could this treatment help you?
Teeth whitening lightens the natural shade of the teeth using a dental-grade whitening gel. At Pearl Dental it is supervised by a dentist throughout — the teeth and gums are checked first, because whitening an unhealthy mouth is neither safe nor effective.
The practice offers Zoom whitening and combination whitening. Which suits you depends on your starting shade, how your teeth respond and how sensitive they are — that is assessed before anything is booked.
Whitening appointments are available through the working week and on Saturdays, with private evening sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays until 8.30pm for patients who cannot get away during the day.
This may suit you if

Your teeth look darker or more stained than you would like, and you want them lightened without anything being drilled or covered. Whitening works on natural teeth.
Good to know

Whitening changes the shade of natural teeth only — crowns, veneers, fillings and bonding do not lighten, which is why whitening is planned before any tooth-coloured work is matched. Some people get temporary sensitivity during treatment; it is managed and settles.
- The teeth and gums are checked by a dentist before whitening starts
- Zoom and combination options, matched to your teeth at the assessment
- The full cost agreed before you start
- Step 1AssessmentThe teeth and gums are examined and your starting shade is recorded, so there is a before to compare the result against.
- Step 2Plan and priceThe whitening option that suits your teeth is recommended and the complete cost is confirmed in writing before you agree.
- Step 3WhiteningTreatment proceeds as planned at the assessment, supervised by the dentist, with sensitivity managed as you go.
- Step 4ReviewThe final shade is compared against the starting record and you leave knowing how to keep the result looking its best.
Afterwards
There is no recovery period. The shade you finish with is kept looking its best by limiting heavy staining — tea, coffee, red wine and smoking — and by regular hygiene visits, which remove surface stain the toothbrush cannot.

Questions patients usually ask.
How much does teeth whitening cost?
It depends on which whitening option suits your teeth, which is decided at the assessment. You receive the complete cost before anything is booked.
Is whitening safe?
Supervised by a dentist after an assessment of the teeth and gums, yes — that assessment is the safety step.
Will my crowns, veneers or fillings whiten too?
No — whitening only changes natural tooth. That is why whitening comes first, and any tooth-coloured work is matched to the new shade afterwards.
Will it make my teeth sensitive?
Some people notice temporary sensitivity during treatment. It is expected, managed as part of the treatment, and settles once whitening finishes.
How long does the result last?
It varies from person to person and depends mostly on diet and smoking. The shade fades gradually rather than suddenly, and top-up options are discussed at your review.
