How Dental Sedation Works

With advances in technology and dentistry skills, there are so many dental treatments that can do to make your smile more attractive and improve oral health. However, many people simply push this idea to the back of their minds due to fear of dental treatment.

At Pearl Dental Queensbury we only use intravenous sedation which is a safe and effective method of sedation, so that you can slip into a relaxed state while we work our magic.

You’ll be awake throughout the procedure and won’t feel any pain during the treatment. You may experience slight soreness after the treatment depending on the type of treatment you have done.

Before & After

Sedation Dentistry FAQs

What if I’m not afraid of the dentist – can dental sedation still work for me?

It certainly can; for example, if you are not particularly fond of injections and needles or don’t like the smells, tastes and noises associated with the dentist’s office, dental sedation can help you relax and feel at ease.

Will I be completely sedated?

Yes – the sedation is just enough to put you into a relaxed state so that you are completely calm and pain-free during the dental procedure. You will stil be awake and you may not remember most of the dental treatment.

Is there any hangover once the sedation wears off?

You will feel perfectly fine afterwards. However, for your own safety, we’d recommend having a friend or family member drive you home.
