Wrinkle Reduction

What are wrinkle reduction treatments?

Wrinkle reduction treatments are a safe and effective treatment for temporary smoothing of wrinkles and fine lines. The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes and is administered using a fine needle and expert precision making the treatment as comfortable as possible. The most common areas treated are frown lines, forehead lines and crows’ feet. Depending on the age of the skin it is possible temporarily to erase wrinkles resulting in smooth, unlined skin. The results will usually last around 4 months and patients will be given post-operative instructions before leaving the practice.

FAQ

What is Dysport?

Botulinum toxin is the active ingredient found in Dysport. Injections of botulinum toxin blocks muscular nerve signals, which then weakens the muscle so It can’t contract. The end result is diminished, unwanted facial wrinkles.

Dysport is often used on crow’s feet (around the eyes), forehead furrows, frown lines between the brows, and various off label uses.

How long do the results of treatment last?

Dysport can take up to two full weeks to take effect. However, some patients notice a difference after only a few days.

The effects of the toxin can last anywhere from three to four months.

Who is a good candidate?

Wrinkle reduction treatments are for any adult who wants to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe wrinkles or prevent wrinkling from occurring.

Dysport is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What should I expect after?

You may have small red, raised areas where the toxin was injected, this is normal and will diminish within 5-30 minutes.

It is rare but a bruise can occur after injections. Bruises usually subside after 3-7 days.

It is important to move the muscles of the face where the toxin was placed to ensure adequate absorption into the muscles (i.e. raise eyebrows, frown or squint)

If the muscles of the area injected still move (not completely rested), more toxin will be needed to achieve the desired result.

Advanced Botulinum Toxin treatments

Masseter muscle £350.00

Botulinum toxin injection into the masseter muscle is ideal for patients who are grinding, clenching, and wearing out their teeth and need a lot of dental work, for patients who have frequent tension or migraine headaches, and for patients who do not like the shape of their face because of square or thick jaw line and who want to appear more feminine.

Neck lift £350.00

This treatment helps lift the corners of the mouth and define the jawline whilst helping to combat sagging and the formation of jowls. As we age, our skin loses elasticity and gravity beings to pull our facial muscles down. Botulinum toxin is carefully sited to prevent and reverse this downward movement, resulting in a more defined bone structure, neck and facial contour.

Downturned mouth corners (sad face) £175.00
Turn that frown upside down! A sad smile, or sad mouth, is where the corners of the lips are constantly pointing downward, looking almost as if they are being pulled down towards the chin. This gives the appearance of someone continually looking as if they are frowning, angry or sad. This effect is caused by certain muscles in the mouth being stronger than the muscles that oppose them. With the use of Botulinum toxin this can be corrected! By injecting Botulinum toxin into the depressor muscle in the mouth area this will relax the muscle and allow the corners of the mouth to be gently lifted and upturned. Within a few days of treatment, the corners of the mouth will relax and the overall effect will be a happier looking smile with more upturned lips.

Gummy Smile £195.00
A gummy smile, known as excessive gingival display, is when you smile and too much gum tissue shows above the top teeth. Patients concerned about a gummy smile often say it makes them feel self-conscious or that their smile seems less attractive. Pearl Dental now offers Botulinum Toxin treatment to treat a gummy smile! By injecting Botulinum toxin in to specific areas of the upper mouth this can lower the top lip to a position where less gum tissue shows. This procedure works by paralyzing specific smile muscles, therefore “relaxing” the muscles that create the “high lift” in a smile and lowers the top part of the smile to cover the gums more.

Dermal fillers from £200.00

Cheek enhancement

Over time our cheeks can flatten and our original natural high-point can start to appear lower. Changes also take place under the surface of the skin where the gradual loss of supportive tissue structures and the long-term effects of gravity mean that larger areas of your face lose volume and shape. These changes particularly affect the cheeks and chin.

Carefully placed injections add volume to beauty points or replace volume where it has been lost. We use one of two dermal fillers, both designed to add lift and shape and show instant results that last upto 24 months.

Advanced dermal fillers can therefore restore our ageing loss of volume in the cheeks, help replenish hollows, and work to build up cheekbones.

Chin and jaw line enhancement

Chin; Some people feel they have a disproportionately small chin in relation to the rest of the features of their face. Dermal fillers can be injected into the chin to lengthen it to achieve the perfect proportion. It can also move the chin forwards or downwards to create the perfect ratio between the nose, lips and chin. Dermal fillers on the chin can also be used to fill wrinkles and folds making the appearance of the chin more aesthetically pleasing.

Jawline; Some people can have a sagging jawline which can be a sign of ageing. Others may genetically have an under formed or weak jawline which can greatly affect confidence. A defined jawline is a very desirable look, and a strong jawline can be the most striking feature of a person’s appearance. Dermal filler can be used to stiffen the skin on a jawline and define the chin and jowl area, decreasing the weakness of an undesirable jawline. Dermal filler to the jaw can also give a face lift effect by improving the definition.

Tear Trough Filler

The area between your lower eyelid and upper cheek is known as your tear trough. Although this is a normal process as we age, it gives the impression of being tired and less vibrant.

A tear trough filler treatment works instantly to give a natural looking correction to hollows under the eyes. Eye hollows can develop from an early age, and can change in appearance; it becomes longer, deeper and more shadowed. It can be caused by genetics, lack of sleep, stress, poor diet, and though the normal process as we age. Hollows under the eyes can make you look tired and aged even when you’ve had plenty of sleep and gives the impression of being tired and less vibrant.

To treat tear troughs a fine grade hyaluronic filler is injected into the deeper part of the Tear Trough and this fills the hollow. This procedure replaces lost volume and at the same time retains skin hydration. Once filled, the area appears flat and the light reflects off the skin evenly correcting dark shadows.

Lip Fillers

Lip fillers, also known as lip augmentation, enhance your lips and result in more volume and definition. They reduce the appearance of fine lines, give you fuller lips and a younger rejuvenated appearance.

Dermal fillers can also be used around the lips for smoothing out lipstick and smokers lines.

Temple

The face’s natural V-shape is associated with youthful radiance and this can be emphasised by filling up the cheekbones. However, the V-shape continues from the cheekbones in the direction of the temples. By additionally filling up the temples, the V is emphasised more strongly because of the subtle lift at the upper portion of the face. Who wouldn’t like that?
• Youthful appearance
• Facial V-line
• Reduce wrinkles around the eyes

Nose

Non-surgical rhinoplasty (more literally known as ‘nose filler’) is an aesthetic treatment rising in popularity with women and men alike.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a medical procedure in which injectable fillers, most commonly hyaluronic acid ones like Teosyal and Juvederm, are used to alter and shape a person’s nose without invasive surgery.

FAQ

What are dermal fillers?

The most popular dermal fillers used today are made of a material using hyaluronic acid-based products, such as those in the Juvéderm and Teosyal range. These hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are non-permanent, meaning that they are reabsorbed into the body over time.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is found in body tissues, and it has been used safely in general medical applications for several decades.

What possible side effects can result from dermal fillers?

All dermal filler treatments have the risk of temporary bruising around the injection site, swollen facial features during the initial healing period and infection at injection site. These risks are higher when treatments are performed in unsterile environments such as hairdressers, beauty clinics or home environments and by inexperienced or unqualified practitioners.

The side effects and risks associated with dermal fillers will be discussed with Narinder at the initial consultation.

How painful are the dermal filler injections?

As a local topical anaesthetic cream is applied 30 minutes before treatment and the products themselves contain lidocaine which is a fast acting anaesthetic, the vast majority of patients find the injections tolerable with slight initial discomfort.

Discomfort levels maybe higher if patients opt for an inexperienced practitioner or use an inferior product.

How long do the dermal fillers last?

Typically most fillers last around six to twelve months, with the exact time depending on the area applied and the individual patient, as some patients’ bodies break down the fillers faster than others. Some of the Juvederm and Teosyal dermal fillers available at Pearl Dental do offer results of up to two years, this will be discussed with you at your consultation.
