Sinus lift
Sinus augmentation considered for selected upper-jaw implant cases after three-dimensional assessment.

Could this treatment help you?
In the upper back jaw, the sinus sits close above the tooth roots — lose a tooth there and often there is not enough bone height left for an implant. A sinus lift raises the sinus membrane and grafts bone beneath it, creating the height an implant needs.
The decision is made from the practice’s on-site CBCT scan, which shows exactly how much bone stands between mouth and sinus.
This may suit you if

You want to replace an upper back tooth with an implant and the scan shows the sinus sits too low for one. A sinus lift is only ever proposed as part of a written implant plan.
What it will not do

It is a delicate, well-established procedure with months of healing before the implant stage. The specific risks — including disturbance of the sinus membrane — are explained at consent, and where the lift is not advisable, the alternatives such as shorter implants or a bridge are laid out instead.
- Makes upper back implants possible where the sinus sits low
- Planned precisely from an on-site CBCT scan
- One written plan covering lift, implant and costs
- Step 1CBCT scanThe bone height and sinus position are measured exactly.
- Step 2The liftThe sinus membrane is raised and graft material placed beneath it.
- Step 3HealingNew bone matures over several months.
- Step 4Implant placementThe implant is placed into the new height.
Afterwards
For the first weeks you avoid anything that pressurises the sinuses — nose-blowing, flying, diving — exactly as instructed at the visit. Swelling settles within days; healing is checked before the implant is booked.
Questions patients usually ask.
Is a sinus lift painful?
It is done under local anaesthetic and most patients describe pressure rather than pain, with a few days of manageable tenderness after. Sedation can be discussed if the idea of the procedure itself is the barrier.
Can the implant go in at the same time?
Sometimes — where enough native bone exists to stabilise it. Your scan decides; both routes are explained with their timelines in the written plan.
